Why Your MOT Matters

A valid MOT is crucial for road safety and legality. It identifies potential issues before they become serious protecting you and other road users. Driving without one can lead to significant penalties.

What We Check

Be Prepared

Preparing for Your MOT

A few simple checks before you arrive can save you time, money and a fail certificate.

Clean your vehicle

A clean car helps testers spot issues quickly — especially around lights, mirrors and number plates.

Check your lights

Walk around the car and test all bulbs: headlights (main & dipped), brake lights, indicators, fog and number plate lights.

Top up screen wash

An empty washer bottle is an instant MOT failure under modern testing rules.

Check tyre tread & pressure

Minimum legal tread is 1.6mm across the central 3/4 of the tyre. Inspect for cuts and bulges.

Test the horn & wipers

Wipers and washers must work properly; the horn must be loud, continuous and clearly audible.

Clear the dashboard warnings

Engine management, ABS, airbag and brake warning lights showing can fail the test.
